Hotel Investor Apps (HIA), the hotel-specific ERP & Accounting software, has just announced the launch of a new industry-first import tool.
Designed exclusively by HIA’s software development team, this tool enables hoteliers switching accounting software, or adding new hotels to their portfolios, to import historical financial data that includes data down to the General Ledger level of detail, for the first time in the industry.
While it is fairly common practice for systems to import a Trial Balance level of detail, which shows the account value at the end of the month, this new General Ledger (GL) level import allows hoteliers to maintain the story behind the numbers, such as why a cash account changed $50,000 in a month. This level of historical detail allows for a deeper understanding of financial activities and trends, which supports more accurate budgeting, auditing, and decision-making processes.
This new data import tool is innovative not only because of the detail it captures, but because of its speed and capacity. Whereas often accounting software imports are designed for month-by-month uploading of data, with HIA’s new tool, data can be imported quickly in batches of multiple years at a time. This can save potentially days worth of time, depending on how many years are being imported.
HIA Founder & CEO Charlie Fritsch noted, “We are excited to have developed a tool that enables hoteliers to retain such detailed historical data, so that they can easily upgrade their financial management software without the fear of losing any crucial information.”
