An Integrated Food and Beverage Experience – with Marriott, Toast, and HIA

Marriott International and Toast have recently announced an agreement to make the “Toast for Hotel Restaurants” point-of-sale (POS) system available to food and beverage outlets within Marriott’s select-service hotels in the United States and Canada.

“Toast for Hotel Restaurants” integrates with Marriott’s PMS system enabling hotels to offer an integrated food and beverage experience throughout the property. It allows guests to pay restaurant, bar, lounge, and poolside bills by charging them to their room, making the payment process faster and more efficient for both hotel and restaurant staff. It also offers ordering options, such as in-room mobile ordering for guests or hand-held POS system ordering so staff can place orders from anywhere on the property.

Aman Narang, COO and co-founder of Toast commented, “We’re honored to offer our innovation across a variety of service models, including full-service, quick-service, poolside and in-room dining, to Marriott’s select-service properties, and enhance hotels’ staff and guest experience.”

However, the challenge with most accounting software programs is that they are not able to integrate directly with POS systems, such as with Toast. Some rely on work-arounds for POS data, feeding it through another system first; resulting in lags, data gaps, and glitches.

Hotel Investor Apps (HIA), has solved for this issue by integrating directly with POS software, including with Toast. HIA automatically imports both POS and PMS system data into our daily reports and dashboards, enabling our hotel customers to have a comprehensive, real-time view of performance. Therefore, any new Toast users can feel confident that HIA will pull their POS data directly into the accounting as well as daily reports.

Additionally, POS system data is available in HIA’s business intelligence module, so hoteliers can analyze guest spend and determine if there are opportunities for additional upselling of groups with food, beverage and/or shopping options. Similarly, another HIA customer also had a vision of integrating all food, beverage, entertainment and other guest charges throughout their 20-acre resort complex into a single tab. Read about it in the case study: Canadian Niagara Hotels and HIA Partnership
